Cookie Policy
1. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies (for example local storage) to store information on your device or to access information from your device. Some cookies are strictly necessary. Other technologies are only used if you have given your consent.
2. Categories
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are required for the operation, security, and core functionality of the website (for example session management, security mechanisms, saving your cookie choice, saving your language preference). These cookies help us provide the website in a stable and secure way.
2.2 Functional cookies
Functional cookies support optional features (for example features that access third party resources). We would only use such technologies if you actively allow them in our consent and cookie banner. At present, we do not use functional cookies.
2.3 Protection against spam and bots
To protect our contact form from spam and automated submissions, we use Cloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile is a security and abuse prevention measure and is embedded when the contact form is loaded so messages can be processed reliably. In the standard configuration we use, Turnstile is not used to build user profiles and is not used for advertising or tracking purposes. However, technical information required for the security check may be processed (for example IP address, device and browser information, request and event data). Where Turnstile uses additional strictly necessary on device mechanisms in certain technical modes, these are used exclusively for security purposes. Further details are provided in our Privacy Policy.
2.4 Amazon affiliate links
Our website contains Amazon affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link, you will be redirected to the relevant Amazon website. Amazon may use cookies or similar technologies there to track orders and allocate commissions. The responsible Amazon entity depends on your region. We only receive aggregated reports (for example number of sales and revenue) and no personal data about individual buyers.
2.5 Amazon product display
We use the Amazon Affiliate WordPress Plugin (AAWP) to display product information. Content such as product images, prices, and availability may be loaded directly from Amazon servers. Your IP address is transmitted to Amazon because the display would otherwise not be technically possible. We do not use additional click tracking and no location or country detection for analytics purposes within the plugin settings. Regional link localization is used only to route to the appropriate Amazon store. Details are provided in our Privacy Policy.
2.6 Usage statistics
We use the WordPress plugin Koko Analytics for audience measurement. Statistics data is stored locally on our own server within our WordPress installation and is not shared with third parties. We do not build advertising or marketing profiles and we do not combine analytics with other data sources.
In our current configuration, Koko Analytics may use a first party analytics cookie with a retention period of up to 24 hours. It is used to recognize repeat visits within that time window and to reduce duplicate counting. This analytics cookie is set only if you explicitly consent to the Analytics category in our consent and cookie banner. Further details are provided in our Privacy Policy.
3. Consent
Strictly necessary cookies are used to provide the website and cannot be disabled via the banner.
Functional cookies and similar technologies would be used only if you provide consent via our consent and cookie banner (CookieYes). At present, we do not use functional cookies.
Analytics cookies and similar technologies for audience measurement are used only if you provide consent via our consent and cookie banner. You can withdraw or adjust your consent at any time with effect for the future via the cookie settings (for example via the cookie icon).
For visitors in California, Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals are taken into account as an indication of an opt out preference, where technically implemented.
4. Storage duration
Cookies are either deleted automatically when you close your browser (session cookies) or remain on your device until a defined expiration date (persistent cookies), unless you delete them manually. An analytics cookie for audience measurement may be valid for up to 24 hours. The storage duration depends on the specific cookie, your consent choices, and your browser and device settings. For cookie lists and retention periods, please refer to the cookie settings and our cookie list.
5. Legal bases
Strictly necessary cookies are processed based on our legitimate interests in operating a secure, stable, and functional website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR where applicable).
Where functional cookies or similar technologies are used, this is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where applicable).
Where analytics involves setting or reading cookies or similar technologies that require consent, this is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR where applicable).
In the EU and EEA, additional rules apply to storing or accessing information on end user devices under the ePrivacy framework and national implementations. In the UK, equivalent rules apply under PECR.
5.1 Germany – device access rules
Where cookies or similar technologies store or access information on your device in Germany, additional requirements may apply under the Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). Non essential device access requires consent, while technically necessary access may be permitted under the statutory exception.
6. International data processing
When using external services and when visiting third party platforms (for example Amazon after clicking a link), processing of personal data in third countries (in particular the United States) cannot be ruled out. This may also apply to Cloudflare Turnstile if technical security data is processed and handled outside the EU and EEA or transferred there. Where required, providers rely on appropriate safeguards (for example standard contractual clauses) or applicable adequacy mechanisms. Data protection standards in third countries may differ. Government access cannot be fully excluded.
7. Browser settings
You can manage cookies at any time via your browser settings (for example delete, restrict, or block). Please note that disabling cookies completely may limit certain website functions.
